James Wallace "Jim" Woods Sr., 81, went to be with his Lord on September 29, 2017. Jim was born on March 18, 1936, in Rutledge, Tenn., to the late Herman Howard and Mary Vick Woods. He was a 1955 graduate from Chattanooga's Central High School, earning an athletic scholarship to college. After playing football for the Georgia Institute of Technology; he was stationed with the United States Marine Corps at Chincoteague Naval Air Station. Jim then built his career at Wrigley, Collins Concrete Pipe, and Jon Deere, and was as well-known to his community as the iconic brands that employed him. Always armed with a pistol and joke, it was a rare occasion where Jim went somewhere where he didn't already know someone; and if anyone walked in as a stranger, they often left as a friend. Jim was passionately involved in B.P.O.E. Lodge No. 91, the Alhambra Shrine Temple where he was in the Bagpipe Corp., and he was a Brother of the Grand Lodge of Tennessee, F. & A.M, the Elks Club and the Highland Sportsman Club He volunteered tirelessly for many Hamilton County Republican candidates, loved serving his community as a Hamilton County Reserve Sheriff's Deputy, was an avid outdoorsman, and a member of Central Baptist Church.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and two siblings, Jerrie Woods Low and Donald.

Jim is survived by his wife, Vivian; children, James Wallace "Jim" Woods, Jr. (Terrisa Johnson), Jamie Woods Angel (Bob), John Justin Woods (Janelle Karas), and Brady "Scott" Moore; nine grandchildren, Natalie-Claire Woods Lyda (Eric) USMC Capt. James Wallace "Beau" Woods III (Emily), Lauren Alyse Angel, USMC 2LT Bailey Alexander Woods (Taylor), Daron O'Shay Blaylock, Zachary O'Shay Blaylock, Lanie McKenzie Angel, Dominick O'Shay Blaylock, and Ashton O'Shay Woods, two great-granddaughters, Sophia Mae Woods and Quinn Pressley Woods; the mother of his children, Edna (Horner) Woods; and several nieces and nephews.
